The Public Provident Fund (PPF) is a government-backed, tax-free savings scheme with a 15-year lock-in. Interest is compounded yearly. The current rate is 7.1% per year (October–December 2026 quarter); the government reviews it every quarter.
How to use the PPF Calculator

- Check the interest rate (7.1% currently).
- Choose the period: 15 years, or extend in 5-year blocks.
- Deposit before 5 April each year to earn interest for the full year.
Formula used
Each year: balance = (previous balance + yearly deposit) × (1 + rate). Example: ₹1.5 lakh a year for 15 years at 7.1% grows to about ₹40.68 lakh.
